Remember The Guestbook

Many people have written and asked what happened to our guestbook. They would enjoy checking in each day to see who had left a comment. Sometimes famous people from our disco world would leave us notes. Due to incessant spamming etc. of the guestbook we were forced to discontinue this service, it was becoming a full time job to maintain. However, for your enjoyment we present here the original guestbook minus its many spams and etceteras :o) Enjoy!

You will also notice some later heartwarming and sometimes touching messages that were very kindly sent to us after we discontinued the guestbook.

Looking forward to the 30th anniversary in October this year. Do you think you might do a spring or White Party sometime?
Thanks

From Rick

I have been corresponding with one of the people on your Troc. membership page on the RTP website quite regularly, remembering good times and parties at the Troc. This being Easter weekend especially. This weekend if I were to go back some 25 years or so I would be getting myself all prepared to attend the White Part yon Saturday night. I suppose I just want to say I'm so glad I found RTP and it has helped me realize that are many of us out there who felt that this was a special place and time in our lives. Especially now that I live in southern California, it is really hard to explain to people who weren't a part of it the Trocadero magic.

Look forward to the event in October. I will definitely be there.

Here is to past Easter mornings and remembrances of good times spent at The White Party and many other Saturday nights/Sunday Mornings spent at the Trocadero.

All the best Rick

Just saw your note that you are doing a 30th anniversary party of the Troc. Can't wait to get my fans out and dance to the music and trip to the lights. We had a great time at the last party. Thanks for keeping the Trocadero alive!

Please notify of the next party date, and related happenings. Besides Folsom/ Dore I can't imagine a better event to plan my next SF visit around! Also: What, if any RememberTheParty CD sets are still available? I have #5, which pleases me much.

Thanks.

We just saw that you are having a 30th anniversary celebration of the Trocadero this October. We can't wait! Rusty and I will be there and looking forward to another trip around the world with Jerry and the White Light gang. Love the picture of June Cleaver and the Pearls. You may rest assured that I will be wearing my favorite strand of pearls to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the best club in the west.
Much love, LaTishia Van Allen.

From Rick K.

I actually found your site on a whim. I was feeling nostalgic and I decided to do a search for the Troc on the web, and the Remember The Party is one of the sites that came up.
I just discovered your site about a week ago, and needless to say, did not know about these events until last week.
I have however been corresponding with someone whose membership card I saw on your site and remember his face from those "good old days".
It is so nice to know that it wasn't just me who felt this was a special time and place in my life.
Best regards,

Rick K

Hi!

I'm just in "awe" over the website!! A friend of mine called me earlier today and told me about the website...UNBELIEVABLE!!! We went to the I beam every week...The Balcony......Dreamland (I loved going there for tea dances)....and then "checked" ourselves into Trocadero on Saturday till Sunday morning...then of course off to The End Up till usually late afternoon....of course, with frequent trips home to change etc....I was also a bartender at The Metro from 1985-1988 and was a DJ there also. I remember receiving tickets to the bartenders bash!! I have tried to explain several times to people about Trocadero...I came to know it's IMPOSSSIBLE...YOU had to BE THERE.

Thanks so much!! YOU made my day and then some!

I found you through radioiodisco. There was an article about the cd set "Remember The Party 5" (which I have just ordered).
I have lived in SFO for a short time at the end of the seventies and still remember dancing at the Trocadero, my first real disco experience.
Please keep my updated about future RTP events at the Trocadero Transfer. I would love to fly over and party there next time.

Please add me to your mailing list! I just came across your site yesterday and have read almost everything! Man I am so sorry I didn't know sooner, I would have LOVED to attend the parties!

I first was introduced to the TROC by Jerry Gilliam when I lived in San Francisco in 1979! He was a friend of Bobby's, and he was always on Bobby's guest list at the door! It was great getting in so easily by passing the long lines!

Is the new club restricted to 2:30 am? Or are there any future plans to run the party into the early am hours? The best music was always the "Morning Music" that mellow upbeat tempo that Bobby always played to bring us down!

Thanks for the FANTASTIC SITE!

Good to hear from you guys! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I'll be looking forward to the next party you put together, as well as several folks including my co-workers!
Thank you for putting on the Remember The Party 5 in SF. IT SURE WAS CROWDED AND HOT! Reminded me of the good old days when sweat would drip off the pipes and onto you when you'd climb the stairs to the balcony!

The music, lightshow and staff were great and Aaron and I are sporting our Troc tee-shirts back home in Vancouver! Just loved the underground music - my kinda' stuff!

Best to all!

"Remember the Party 5" was fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed the music line up. Jerry took everyone on a wonderful journey.

The cluster of disco balls and the lights really set the mood for a get down and boogie night.

I would like to extend my gratitude to you for coordinating this event and I look forward to the next disco party.

I partied at the Troc after moving to SF right out of high school. My fondest memory is dancing alongside Weyland Flowers and Madame one crazy night, both surrounded by a throng of shirtless blond hunks. It was surreal and an absolute blast, an experience I'll never forget.
Okay, back to reality. Would love to attend your Remember The Party

It is only August, and I am salivating. I can't wait. Here is the state of my mind: what will I wear, my usual jeans and Polo shirt, when do I buy tickets, tomorrow or next weekend, what songs do I hope he will play since in my mind I will be the only one in the room, and do I give a quick blow on my whistle as I always have since 79 if he plays "Without Your Love"? I don't ever want to leave when I am there. Thanks for the work that you ALL put into this. Can't wait to dance and have fun! John D

I have not missed one of your "Remember the Party" events, please-please-please keep them coming.
It's not true, the saying, you can't go back. This was always true for me until you brought back the music, the magic, the people, the spirit and the memories of a unique time and place from so long ago, yet feeling like last week.
You brought it all back, back to the old Trocadero space. My friends who dance that cha-cha queen shuffle/boot dance in heaven, were for the night, dancing at my side. Thank you, thank you, thank you. It's so nice, grand even to celebrate that time as one should, dancing under the confetti of light to that sweet melodic music, bringing all the glory of that time right into today.
Being reminded of those feelings and sentiments of a simpler and more pure time shines light on those old emotion and beliefs, making them somehow present again. Maybe only for the evening, in the hypnotic spell cast by the Trocadero's magic, yet it's enough to carry along in one's back pocket as a reminder and a lesson, to celebrate often our spirit in dance.

Web Site:None given Your Input: Written early Monday morning - I guess I'm the first one awake from yesterday's festivities. I am WORN OUT! ;-) I danced several hours of hi-energy breaks at Burningman Street Faire, then cruised on over to the Troc party. When I walked thru the door onto the dance floor at Troc. WHOA! It took almost an hour to re-groove, but re-groove I did. dance til 2am with hardly a break for a water run. This boy is wasted! Yes, the master played it all! Jon and Jimmy would have been flyin all over the map over the disco rarities. The place was packed, I mean jammed tight. Finally found some space to dance my way, over on the stage with the fan dancers. To my delight, they'd set up additional speakers to bring the sound to the stage, so it sounded the best up there, and I stayed there the rest of the night. It'll take a week to recover! Ev and JCB and me are in a couple of photos taken by a friend of Richard and Chris, so maybe we'll see them here on the group! cj

Again, thanks to all involved in such a memorable experience...and Yes, I felt "Church" as Sylvester called it. Comments: Oh my God, Oh my God, OHHHHHHHH my gawd. The Black Party- OUR BLACK PARTY. This had to be not only THE event of the year, but last night was THE party of this decade. Jerry Bonham, besides being charming and a hella of a nice guy, led us through a most unbelievable musical/mystical journey. I thought we were going to have to get the paddles out several times for a heart boot. To Carla, Bobby& Bob the lights were beyond great, they were the perfect ingredient to compliment and enhance the powerful music. And so our cluster grows, ever shining, ever so brillant. To Chris and Richard - my most sincere THANK YOU & LOVE for those extraordinary long hours of preparation, work and patience to pull off this "fete extraodinaire". This party was a "most excellent" example of the nights @ Troc. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy and much love - John

Comments: Hi Scott! The 'Remember' the Party events are held on Sundays because they are basically the only night of the weekend the Glas Kat (the current club in the former Trocadero Transfer space) has available. To reserve the club for a Friday or Saturday would be astronomically expensive! Sundays (in the tradition of Sunday teadances) are chosen in order to maximize the contribution to Under One Roof (don't forget the RtP events also benefit UOR), as well as keep admission prices at a reasonable rate. Sunday, October 9th was chosen, in part, because of the three day holiday weekend for some. Hope you have a wonderful time at your first RtP!!!

Comments: I was a Trockette from the White Party in 1978 to the Summer of 1982. Got my membership in May of 1979--as a student at SFSU--only 19 years old with a fake ID from Berkeley. My friends and I danced EVERY Saturday there and EVERY special event there was for 4 solid years. I got my first pair of Frye Boots, Willi Smith shirt, and Firroucci jeans before I even dare to step foot in there. It was like walking into Oz....I was mesmerized then and every night thereafter. My first night I was dancing next to Gloria & Gary from American Bandstand's Best Dance Couple in 1978 and some famous New York fashion designer. There has NEVER been a replacement for the Troc--Alfie's, Oil Can Harry's, Dreamland, I-Beam, and the End-Up were great, but never came close to The Troc's magical element of style, sound, and imagination. I am forever grateful for those memories and the 1000's of dances we shared...Bill W.

Comments: For a season August 1979 thru June 1980 I worked as lightmen under lead lightman Bill Langenheim at the Trocadero Transfer, translating the sounds of music to light. Bill Langenheim and I were brought from Studio One in Los Angeles along with Bobbi Vetteritti and Michael Lewis and Craig Morey by the then owner Dick Collier. Bill our creative genius had removed all the old and odd image panels on the rotating center piece and replaced them with a tear drop of multiple mirror balls, while the centerpiece rotated moving at various speeds it made you feel like you were on a ship flying through space and time it was magical. I lost track of all of them when I returned to Los Angeles in June of 1980. Bill was the mastermind of the light show I was merely his tool and attempted to recreate on my nights to play the magic of Bill's sights and sounds. These are fond memories for me though some seem to be clouds of mezmerising light and sound. It was through the Trocadero that I found myself and many other in the creative machine that was the Trocadero Transfer. I loved using the ultra arc follow spots in concert with Billy running the main lights. As the ultra white light of the ultra arc cut through the darkness the room would explode into mezmerizing spatial vistas that enthralled the club and its denizens. Yes, these are fond memories I hope you all enjoy the reunion. I wish I could be there to see it and all of you! Sincerely, Rex (Tony) Bailey.

Comments: Thank you so much for doing these parties. They are incredible. I started going to Troc in 1978 when I was 21 years old. It is wonderful to relive my youth through this incredible music. I will be at the Black Party beginning to end. ONE REQUEST: I don't know the name or artist but the lyrics "Black Jack come back." That song would be so special to here and appropriate for "Black"

Comments: Hi, I'm not sure what to ad but I'm thrilled by your efforts. My club history goes back to the 70s in NYC. I started going to clubs like Flamingo, then I joined the Saint and was one its first 500 members. (I even had a locker)Then of course there was Studio 54 where I was a regular. Throw in the fact that I owned a house in the Pines on Fire Island and you will get the picture of someone who loved the music from this era. Can I help answer any questions for you since I was there and am still here? Jack

Comments: Hi all, Just a quick note to explain about a change in the name of our next fund raising party. Back in the 70s and 80s many dance clubs including the Trocadero Transfer held Black Parties. We decided to call our event 'Remember' the Black Party since we are creating the same spirit and atmosphere of that time. It was brought to our attention that The Saint At Large have a copyright on the name "The Black Party". THE BLACK PARTY® is a registered trademark of The Saint At Large, Inc. and all rights are reserved. Since the name 'Remember' the BLACK Party was very close to their name we are complying with their wishes and changing the name of our party to 'Remember' the TROC Party. Our friends at The Saint At Large understand that we cannot change the wording on our promotional material that is already organized and in place, but we are endevouring to change the wording wherever we can. This will not change the spirit and fun of this event so please everyone come join us for some pre Halloween fun, it's all for a good cause! The guys at The Saint At Large have extended their best wishes to us for this party. In return we would like to invite you to visit their web site at http://www.saintatlarge.com. A Troc. party by any other name will be just as sweet. Peace Love and Disco, the gang at White Light Productions

Where are Nick John, Paul Parker, Jo Carol, Magda Layna, Modern Rocketry, and Jackson Moore? I want them back...without too much of that circuit sound....just great vocals, great synth lines, and a steady beat. It's all about the Patrick Cowley sound.

Comments: "Soul Recharge" is indeed an appropriate name. Since I was a little boy growing up Gay in a tense alcoholic home I would retreat to my room and listen to records on my Sears Roebuck Hi-FI as a way to sooth and uplift me. Later in life I retreated on weekends to the Trocadero in S.F. to again experience a mind/mood transformation with the wonderful music that indeed "recharged my soul". I just got the Jerry Bonham soundtrack to the Troc party. It is so fantastic I have vowed to eventually buy the others as soon as I can. I hope the other two are still available. Listening to that music mixed in that way is definitely a spiritual experience for me! Can't wait till the next party! I'll be there when the doors open!

Comments: Thanks to all of you who have helped put these three events on. Everyone, even the young "kids" in the room loved hearing, dancing, and singing them! What memories seemed to flash through everyone's minds--the music, the disco balls in the center of the room, and the memories of smiling, happy faces of people I haven't seen in a long long time! If you put on an event every weekend or once a month, I would be the first to go, yes I would! I think good thoughts of you all and just smile when I think about the three events. Thanks so much and let's go all night sometime. John (Oh, I happen to have almost every record that was played at all three events. But if you know of a dj who is looking for a particular song on vinyl--single, remix, compilation, etc., and a few on cd--let me know. I would be happy to exchange records or, in some cases I have more than one or two copies of a particular song. I would prefer to give a dj a record if he might consider mixing a cd of some favorite songs of mine. I have a lot of the Disconet, Razormaid, etc., sets that are wonderful.) I am ending this too long of a letter and going to play some music. Thank you and my best to all of you who have done so much for so many!! John

And, of course a float with Kristine W singing her remake of Keep on Holding On. She hasn't made it yet...but we could work on that. Great theme for us older queens with challenging lives, Keep On Holding On. Jerry, you have a wonderful talent for selecting and mixing the music. I thank you for giving us another chance to experience the old Troc in its glory - it was the music, wasn't it. Comments: What an unforgettable evening! Soul Recharge was a labor of love by so many dedicated people. Here are some of the main players. First, Chris and Richard, without you two there wouldn't be any RtP parties. You put so much love and care into these parties and it shows! Bob, your genius with the lighting is unparalleled. Please, you just have to be back! Carla and Bobby, thank you for spending your entire evening delighting us with the beautiful light show on the mirror balls! Never thought I would ever see that kind of Troc magic again. John H., thank you for locating all of the mirror balls and motors!! Robert, the website continues to be such a delight (despite the efforts of those pesky spammers!). Jennifer Collier, what an honor to have you come to visit us. Hope you were able to come away with a little idea of the magic of your Uncle's club. Last but not least, Jerry Bonham. Thank you, thank you, thank you for a flawless set of classic Trocadero music! Your captured the Troc sound perfectly and I venture to say you made it even better.

I didn't get into Troc until after the time that Jerry Bonham finished playing there. His music is very good. He really took us back. If the music wasn't enough, the lights were wonderful. The addition of a second Arc, really added to the event. The colors were close to what we got from Billy Langenheim. That is about the best compliment I can think of. We are ready for the next party. Every six months is great, but we think every four months would be better. At least you would have our tickets to count on. We'll be there.

Comments: The beginning of the evening which started out with Sparks' 'My Other Voice,' at 114 beats per minute, ramping it's way up to lots of peak soul as well as electronic music in the 130 beat per minute range for several hours and then a delightful wind down starting a little before 1:00 am in the low one hundred beats per minute and staying around 105 beats per minute and ending with the perfect song for the closing, The Three Degrees' 'My Simple Heart.' Great evening of classical disco tunes, played just the way it was done at the Trocadero in the early 80's. A proper wind up, a long, moving peak and a beautiful wind down. I was there with my fans from the very beginning to very end of the night and can't wait for the next event of this kind.

Comments: For those of us that were fortunate enough to have experienced the music and energy of the Trocadero in the 'day,' I would like to thank Jerry and the entire group of people that put this fantastic evening together. Beautiful music, lights and spirit. Oh, lets not forget the mirror ball cluster! Rusty and I had a wonderful time and we look forward to your next event. How delightful to have these little time capsules of something we hold so dear.

Comments: Thank you all for a wonderful time. It was well worth the trip from Nevada. You provided a warm, safe environment to really let go and get some spirit in the air. The lighting was brilliant, yet simple...the folks warm and gracious. The music...well, who can complain about that....deeeelightful. OK..obvious question...when is the next one? With some of his ashes in my shoes, Bill danced again and even got one of his favorite Jell-O shots as it jumped out of it's container right onto my left foot. Can we do this again?! Comments: No words can quite hold a candle to what we experienced last night. The third installment of this incredible rememberance party will be a imprint on everyone's mind. Though we love Robbie Leslie but, Jerry Bonham was doing an excellent job slamming mix after mix of absolute perfection. Every mix brought our jaws to the floor and my partner and I both looked at each other and said "OH MY GOD" I haven't heard this song, in a club, in years. Though we were both DJ in a past life when disco music was fun and fresh, it was nice to think, "we have this on vinyl at home". Once again, I give kudos and an OUTSTANDING OVATION's to the crew who put this extravaganza together. This party is always anticipated for months, enjoyed when it's here, and then talked about afterwards. Looking forward to the next party, as we tipped our hat goodbye at 1 am, as we were just to tired to stay till the end but we did hear our favorite song on leaving and remembering our night "In The Name Of Love".

Comments: Regrettably, I am unable to join you in celebrating (and remembering) the Troc today at the third Remember the Party; Soul Recharge. Bob I wish you the best night ever...and with 'Arc Lamp Diva' Miss Carla to compliment your light show, I am sure that the visuals will be 'brilliant'. Jerry providing the music mix tonight will surely seem like a walk back through time as you recapture the spirit of the Trocadero. I will miss all the smiling faces and dancing feet. Miss my 'new family' of SF friends that I've grown to love over the past year. The timing just didn't work out for me to travel West this week so for now I must instead be content in sending you good vibes and well wishes. I look forward to the next time we can be together and share the dance floor, at the next Remember the Party (in the Fall?)¦ Have a wonderful night, Love, Marsha

Comments: The Wesak Full Moon Eclipse on Sunday, April 24 ...Time for a Soul Recharge! Wesak (the May full moon) has more spiritual energy around it than any other. All over the world Buddhists remember Siddartha, and the ability to communicate with higher levels of intelligence is sublime. The Sun is in peaceful Taurus (think of Buddha under the Bodhi Tree) but the Moon is in Scorpio. Coupled with an eclipse, the energy is perfect for dumping every toxic thing in your life safely in to the ethers for recycling and healing. It's the perfect time to dance and let go. Be willing under the Wesak Full Moon Eclipse to be washed clean, renewed, refreshed, restored and RECHARGED ... innocent again and ready for a new start. All those songs were such Troc favorites, and I still love those songs! Anyway, I'm really looking forward to hearing Jerry Bonham at Soul Recharge (less than two weeks away). Comments: I'm so happy to have found your website! As a New York fanner, I've met people from SF, but never fully appreciated the rich party history of the TROC. Although I never got to go NY's legendary Saint, I have been attending Saint-at-Large parties for almost ten years. I started out by working at the events, when it occurred to me that it would be a nice touch to sage/cleanse the space before such a large, tribal gathering. All these years later, I'm still doing it, not only for SAL parties, but also for smaller, community-based events, as well as the "Souvenirs" series,(featuring such masters as Warren Gluck, Susan Morabito and Robbie Leslie), blending a special incense for each event. It was a lovely surprise to find out that that was the custom at The Trocadero, and that the tradition continues with the "Remember" parties! I hope to someday be able to come to SF, to celebrate and commune with my West Coast family in your beautiful temple.

Comments: It will be great to be with everybody when Jerry Bonham plays on April 24. Jerry and I go back to the days of Dreamland and Colossus and played together at a "Black Party" in 91. We also were very close to Michael Garrett and worked at his store, the CD Record Rack, along with Phil B, Neil Lewis and Matt Consola. We are all awaiting Jerry's masterful performance and it is fitting that he will be playing on a night that will also be a tribute to Michael Garrett and Dick Collier that both passed on just two weeks apart in December, four months ago. I'm sure they will be there in spirit on the 24th.

We're anxious to hear Jerry Bonham now...an unknown to us right-coasters. We're even more anxious to see the sparkle...being sparkle officionados ourselves. Comments: I look forward to my first "Remember The Party" event. Disco is not gone, it lives on in the heart and souls of those of us who understand the necessity of shaking our collective asses beneath the mirrored ball to the visceral beat from the subwoofer beneath the dance floor. Necessary because to dance is to live and dance is just another healing, human expression best employed to heal what ails ya. Long live the spirit of Sylvester and dykes who dance.

Comments: I wish I had known about these events BEFORE they happened. I was Bill Langenheim's close friend and long-time roommate in San Francisco and then in Los Angeles (when he and Bobby made the move to the Palace in Hollywood). And I also ran the arc for Bill (very) occasionally (when I wasn't dancing my ass off all night long) and helped him with hanging lighting and that infamous ruby red neon that he specially-designed for the Troc. Anyone out there remember the red j-shaped neon that we hung and which Billy animated into differnt formations in the club? Billy did real magic with the lighting, didn't he? Too bad Billy isn't with us any longer. And it's also a shame those mirror balls are no longer hanging at the (ex)Troc. I can't believe Steve Fabus' pic is in the first party's gallery! Hello Steve, if you read this! Any way to get in touch with him? And my old friend Jerry Williams signed the guest book!!! Wow. Jerry (and anyone else out there who I know), get in touch with me at barryweaver100@hotmail.com. Well, that's all for now. Er, except I should say that I do still own three pieces of that original ruby red neon that Billy designed and I still have a roll of the original gels that Billy hand-picked to use for the lighting and for the arc. Oh yeah, and I still own an original piece of Trocadero's Parquet wood flooring...call me weird, but when I found that little piece of wood that had come loose, I grabbed it and I've kept it ever since! But really it's the memories that I've held on to that are best about that time and place (for me it was around the middle of 1979 - I was a young thing, only 17 - shhh, don't tell anyone - so you can imagine the impact Troc (and the I Beam, the End Up, Alfie's, the Balcony, the Polk Gulch Saloon, the White Swallow, the Stud, and oh so many other places I can't recall or really shouldn't go on about...) had on me. I mean, I became a DJ because of all that! And because of Bobby Viteritti. Anyway... please do let me know when you have another event and thanks so much for doing these parties, even though I had no idea you actually did them until I randomly happened upon this site. AS MANY PARTIES AS I'VE DONE, I COULD NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT HOW TO "RECREATE" THE MEMORIES, BUT YOU DID IT AND I LOVE YOU FOR IT. SEEING BOB, ROBBIE AND AND ALL THOSE OLD FACES, DANCING WITH "MY" POLE IN THE BACK BY THE STAGE, HAVING THE MIRROR BALLS BACK AND EVEN WITH THE SPACE CHANGES, YOU WERE RIGHT BACK THERE AGAIN. IT WAS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, THE OLD TROC AND THE OLD SAINT IN ONE PLACE... WE ALL NEEDED IT AND YOU CREATED IT FOR US... A MILLION THANKS...PS: LETS TALK MORE ABOUT THE "OTHER IDEA" REAL SOON. NOW I SEE THAT IT REALLY CAN BE DONE.... LOVE YOU FOR TEACHING ME THE ARC LIGHTS AT THE CMC CARNIVAL, FOR PUTTING OUT "BIG HURT" AND ALL OF THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES YOU LET US ALL INDULGE OURSELVES IN ONE MORE TIME. Comments: Remember the Party events have a strong function, to bring us together to celebrate life. I read the recent letters and was stunned to read about Michael. I remember speaking to him for the first time in my life at the RTP #1. He was dancing and came over to the side to watch. I introduced myself, said that we were wondering if he would not mind coming to one of our "Tea Dances" on Sunday's at a local venue. He looked a bit puzzled and then I said that "he would have free admission with one of these passes" and handed him a pink I-Beam Tea Dance card. The large grin and laughter was priceless. I remembered that Chris told me he would be attending that evening and I scurried around in my archives to find some old memorabilia to give to Michael as an appreciation and recognition of what he meant to this fledgling dancer. When I first "came out" my friends brought me to I-Beam every Sunday and said "go over THERE and dance, we will be HERE dancing. They quickly surmised I had no rhythm and 2 left feet. But week after week, I persisted encouraged by the inspirational music of Michael to improve my co-ordination to the point where I was allowed to join the group. He was the first dj in my dancing life. I had been to Troc only one time before but was too drunk to remember anything. The I-Beam was heaven for this "dancing queen" and Michael provided the atmosphere filled with exhuberance. I was extremely glad to have finally talked with the person who provided me with the opportunity to experience the "joy of the dance". I do not remember seeing Michael @ RTP -"ENCORE". It makes me realize even more of our limited tenure as "Earth wonderers" and the brevity of our journey. I know Chris & Bob lost a long time friend and the importance of siezing every opportunity while they last. Right now I am playing a song by Q-Feel, "Dancing in Heaven" because it reminds me of a happier time.... this is our heaven here today, we should make the most of it. I imagine Michael sure did by those that cared enough to share a "moment" or rememberance.

Comments: Some say, that the single unifying string of the universe is really a harmonic note that ties us all together. Michael Garrett was one of those truly wonderful people that have left us with such wonderful, timeless, memories. Bob and myself were fortunate enough to have worked with Michael at several of the mega-party's of the 80's and smaller diverse events throughout San Francisco. How many New Year's party's we rang in with Michael at the turntables spinning all the great energy music of the day, Jimmy Hord creating just the right mood on lights and Bob and I on Arc-lamps adding the punctuation of light, to the amped cheering crowds of delighted dancers. Michael mixed on the groove and danced right along with us in the DJ booth. Always with that great smile and some great stories to go along with the moment. We are grateful to have had the pleasure of our moment in time with him.

Comments: So glad that my partner and I were able to attend the second "Remember the Party ENCORE. My partner Bob Descoteaux remembers the Troc with a great deal of fondness and even though I wasn't here when the Troc was in its prime, I feel a strong bond to that time and place. It was wonderful to see so many of our "mature" generation gathered in one place with a common thread. It just goes to show, not all of us are willing to "sit on our porches and watch the grass grow" as was quoted in an article I read some time ago. Thanks for keeping "the party" going and spreading the Love around. Looking forward to the next "ENCORE" Bryan Pearl & Bob Descoteaux

Comments: MESSAGE TO JOHN HEDGES: John! Got your message. Please write to me at joseph54@jagwireless.net. Nice that these parties celebrate the "party" but the wind beneath the wings of the TROC "party" were the I=BEAM, Caberet, Mind Shaft, Alfies, THE STUD (YOU remember the Gloria Gaynor tape taht began the dance movement there, dontcha?), OIL CAN HARRY'S, the End-UP and the fabulous San Francisco DJs, Tim Rivers, Jorge Martinez, Steve Fabus, Greg Silva, MICHAEL LEE (what a TRIP!), Lester Temple, Don Miley,Jon Randazzo,Rob Kimble, John Geraldo and Oh! Miss Thing! the whoole host of divas dedicated to the groove---what at TROC was the real deal after six music.... SF was a DIVERSE music CAPITAL. Glad to see that music is stilol your way of life. Alas, I am too young to remember the glory days of the Trocodero Transfer, but I certainly appreciate music from that era -- never did I imagine that I would be in a club dancing to The Main Event, The Visitors, I Got the Last Dance, etc. I say bring this back every Sunday! :-)

Comments: Chris bless you and the rest of the team for having bear size dreams and hearts filled with determination. Once again White Light Productions has created the ultimate party experience that exceeded our wildest dreams. Sprits soared and Souls were lifted, as memories of past loves were brought back life and allowed to dance among to colored dots swirling around a room filled with joy. There was truly magic in the music. Robbie, how can we ever not "Hold on to your love" when you put so much of it in the music you played. It was evident by the incredible selection of music that you have always held on to the love and sprit of the TROC. Thank you for recreating a Morning music set so true that I was totally lost in time and space. I kept expecting to see the sunlight come in through the skylights at any moment . Bob Bear, the best light show was the light that shined in your eyes. Richard and Marsha without your patience, persistence, and unbelievable engineering talents there would have been no Arc Light. Keefe and John Thanks again for your support. Thanks to all who came to Remember. I hope we can all do it again and again.

Comments: It was an amazing night! I threw together some Hot Tracks!, Ultimix, and Diconet remixes to get me in the mood...and when I walked in, one of the remixes was being played out on the dance floor. Who'da thunk? I hadn't heard half those tunes since WDRQ in Detroit changed its format in the late '70s to, "disco...DISCO...and more, More, MORE, MORE!!!" Ah...the memories...

Comments: Encore was another wonderful party!!! This party confirmed my suspicions that Robbie Leslie is a musical genius! I knew from his choice for the first & second dance songs he played, Stephanie Mills "Never Knew Love Like This Before," & Phyllis Hyman "You Know How To Love Me," that we were in for an incredible set of music. Who knew we would also be treated to so much more of the beloved tunes from Trocadero's heyday? I never thought I would hear Nicolette Larson's "Lotta Love," Gino Soccio's "Remember," "The Glow of Love" and "Searching" by Change, Persia's "Inch By Inch," Janis Ian's "Fly Too High," Foxy's "Party Boys," Donna Summer's "Rumor Has It" and, of course, Jimmy Ruffin's "Hold On To My Love," (plus so many more) on a dance floor ever again! Added to all of this magic was hearing Paul Parker (yes he was there!) singing along with the Two Tons of Fun on "I Got The Feeling"! That was a fun treat. Many, many THANKS to Chris, Robbie, Richard, Bob, Robert, Carla, Ron, the gang at the Glas Kat and everyone else that put in so much hard work to insure that Encore was a joyous event for so many!!! Can we please have an Encore to Encore???

Comments: Robbie's music was beyond my best expectations! Truly magic and so beautiful. Each song complimented the one before it and the one that followed with the true artistry that only a professional DJ that has been seasoned by such incredible clubs such as the Troc. and the Saint could provide. We are fortunate indeed to have experienced this moment in time in such a wonderful space, exquisite music and ambient lighting, with the perfect crowd. Thank you all for being part of such a wonderful experience. All the best. Chris

Comments: It was fun running into so many people who I partied with back in the 80s. Remembering the Fan Troup at the Gay Pride Parade in 1981, as we wore our white T-shirts with blue and red fans and tried to play fans (all white) in wind as we danced down market street following and preceeding the Troc Float. Remembering the Spectacular WHITE PARTY that same year with Bobby Vitereti's music and Billy's lights. We miss you Bobby and Billy. Thinking back on Viola Wills, Taka Boom, Two Tons of fun with and without Silverster. oh and Grace Jones dusted out of her mind after Gay Day at Merriots great america... so many memories so little time. Comments: Something for Everybody!!! Where to begin??? The folks at the Glas Kat ought to be commended, gracious, polite and truly appreciated our community presence. Chris and Richard, for the countless weeks of preparation for this "labor of love", my sincere thanks. Bob Bear, who lighted our spirits and provided a fantastic light show only 3 words come to mind...Fab - U - lous. Carla, the mistress of mirror ball magic, you enhanced our evening beyond our wildest expectations. We were truly blessed with your extrodinary talent. Lastly, the YODA of music, Robbie Leslie, you resurected wonderful memories of our youth and lifted us once more to a place so special with music so powerful. You embraced our love as we embraced yours. What an exceptional night. For everybody reading this, please tell 30 of your best friends that there is a wonderful surprise in store for the Spring and they should take a vacation day in advance. Word of mouth is our best advertising and if you had a good time, please share it with the world. Chris, Bob and Richard want to raise more money for "Under One Roof" in their efforts to help our community. Believe me, they ain't in it for the money...it's all about love -John

Everyone was dancing their ass off, including myself. It's something in the Disco beat that brings people together and put them in a GREAT mood. Comments: A HUGE HUG TO WHOEVER DREAMED UP THIS CONCEPT!!!! IT WAS WAY OVERDUE IN THIS CITY. UNFORTUNATELY I COULD NOT MAKE THE FIRST EVENT DUE TO THAT I WAS OUT OF THE COUNTRY. BUT LUCKILY I AM BACK AND HOPE TO RELIVE ALL THOSE POLISHED AND SLICK CUTS THAT CAME OUT OF THAT WONDERFUL DECADE. IT'S REALLY AWFUL THAT THE NEW GENERATION DOESN'T HAVE THE SLIGHTEST CLUE, WHAT PROFESSIONAL MUSIC WAS COMING OUT IN THAT PERIOD OF TIME. I WAS A REGULAR MOST OF '78 AND EARLY PART OF '79 IN THAT CLUB. AND ONE OF THE HITS THAT THE DJ'S PLAYED OVER AND OV ER (DUE TO THAT IT WAS A FLOOR-FILLER) AND QUITE WONDERFUL AT THAT WAS (RELIGHT MY FIRE AND INSTANT REPLAY BY DAN HARTMAN) AND THAT GREAT CUT BY EASTSIDE CONNECTION. WHICH TO MY DISMAY I'VE COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN AT THE MOMENT. PLUS SATURDAY NIGHT BAND "COME ON AND DANCE DANCE" AND ONE OF DONNA SUMMER'S BEST CUTS "HEAVEN KNOWS". ANYWAY I COULD GO ON AND ON, BUT YOU WILL BE ASLEEP BY THE TIME I FINISH WITH MY LIST. SO THANKS AGAIN, FOR REVIVING THIS SUPERB MUSIC WHICH WAS SO EMBLEMATIC OF "OUR DECADE" AND HOPE TO SEE ALL OF YOU TONITE AT THE "TROC" I SHALL BE WEARING A BLACK T SHIRT WITH "SALSOUL AND MFSB ORQU.'S LIVE FOREVER" AND MAY THAT MUSIC CONTINUE FACINATING FUTURE GENERATIONS FOR MANY GENERATIONS TO COME, SINCE IT WAS TIMELESS. BLESS YOU ALL FOR THINKING UP THIS GREAT EVENT, LOUIS

Comments: I'm in the process of making plans to come from LA to attend the Oct 3 "Encore" event. but I can't get the website to function and order tickets. I was an early habitue of Trocadero from the time it opened, and my long-time friend Rita Robinson told me what a fabulous time she and Alix Elvitsky had at the April event - which I couldn't attend due to a prior committment. After learning of the October event, I promised Rita I'd come for the October "Encore." I reluctantly moved from San Francisco to Chicago in 1998 and now have lived in West Hollywood for the last two years. I can think of nothing I'd rather do more than attend the "Encore" event.

Comments: There can be no better news than that the party is returning. Please say this means it'll happen yet again in another 6 (or fewer) months, and again, and again...forever. It's apparent from the posts here that just about everyone who attended in April will be back for this event, each bringing 2 or 3 or 4 or 17 of their closest friends. Ooooh....

Comments: I heard about this party when I went into Medium Rare records one night when I was with Chi Chi LaRue. We (I work for Falcon) were shooting at the time so I could not go to the party and I heard from an employee over at Mezanine that I missed THE party of the year...so I have cancelled all plans and plan to hit the dance floor October 3rd. I was a fixture at Troc from 1979 on and really miss it. I am looking forward to this party.

Comments: My dear friends Chris, Bob, Robert, and Richard, How can I thank you for giving me the best night of my life? (Yes, that is Lulu singing in the background now.) I came alone that night and stood on the dance floor crying for the longest time, remembering my squandered youth, my favorite songs, and all the many wonderful friends who hopefully were there in spirit. If we create our own Heaven, then I now know where mine will be. My love and endless gratitude to all of you, Randy

Comments: Wow..I just stumbled on this and am so disappointed I missed this event. If the encore event is happening in October, I'll be there. I frequented the Troc from beginning to end. My dear Jeffrey Pappan loved the Troc and was there in Spirit I'm sure. Michael Bailey: Show up in October. Best to all. Mitch
