This is the Trocadero Transfer's grand opening celebration poster from February 1978! The club opened as a juice bar after hours disco club in December 1977. Dick Collier then waited almost three months before having this, the first big splash all night event with special guests, buffets and breakfast. It would be another two years before he would secure a liquor license.

It's interesting how these wonderful treasures come in to our hands. This poster was given to RTP's Chris in 1991, at San Francisco's Pleasuredome by the ever fabulous dance diva Jason Williams. La Williams, knowing the history of Chris and others of their years at the Troc and other dance events, was kind enough to give this poster as a gesture of his love of the wonderful times we all shared in this city by the bay some refer to as "OZ", or "Ahhs". Oz being the obvious "ahhs" the sound so often heard in this wonderful place.

As they did at the Trocadero, Jimmy Hord, Chris and Bob went on to continue doing club lighting to the mid 90's at the Pleasuredome, 1015, DV8, Sound Factory and other venues. We find it synergistic, that Jason would bring us the very thing that would keep the Troc alive in our hearts and eventually lead us to presenting the "Remember The Party" events at the Trocadero.

Jason, who was very close to the fabulous Sylvester can be seen attending each RTP event sporting different pieces of Sylvester's jewelry in honor of the night. Look out for Jason in some fabulous outfit accessorized with lovely turquoise jewelry and be sure to say Hi!

From May 1981 we have an article that shows the opening of the Trocadero Transfer as December 1977. Are we all ready for a 31th Anniversary Celebration?!? Let's do it! October 7th 2107, mark your calendar!

How fortunate we are that Keefe saved this 1978 article from Billboard magazine. This is a great piece about the clubs of the time, including The Trocadero Transfer.

In this section, we will also be adding bits of memorabilia that were part of the time period that Remember The Party celebrates. This is a note from Steven Von Blau, V.P of Disconet's DJ record remix pool's special projects. He is referring to RTP co-producers Chris and Bob's imminent record release on Moby Dick Records. Chris and Bob a.k.a. BearEssense, were poised to release "The Big Hurt." with Marianna on vocals. Disconet created a long remix and re-edit of the Big Hurt helping it become a hit at the Saint in New York.
